I ran across this a year or two ago and have yet to find anything out there that says so much in so little time. No matter who you are or at what level your dedication is, theres something to be taken from it. I've watched it numerous times since then and am getting ready to hit play again. This time I'm going to write down the excuses I've used and remember the final seconds of this commercial next time I start slipping.
Excuses question dedication, put it in perspective, and ultimately determine success or failure. When the decision to succee has been made we can no longer afford to train on our own terms. We relinquish the right to avoid uncomfortable circumstances. After all, what if your enemy is training in perfect conditions, free from cold, rain, gray skis, short days, surrounded by motivation, and free from obstacles? We should endeavor to live an excuse-free lifestyle. No one makes excuses for succeeding; only failing. I've never heard anyone complain that his opponent wasn't prepared or well-trained. We gladly take responsibility for success but make excuses for failures. Accept it or change it. Succeed or fail on your merit and nothing more.
