Coupling my strongest lift with my weakest at the same weight made for an interesting balance. The cleans became almost a recovery period as I had to fight for every rep of bench in the 4th and 5th rounds. Great workout.

This was nothing more than a peculiar combination of basic push/pull movements. While neither has a severely devastating effect on the other, transition on and off the bench press is a limiting factor. How quickly the weight can be moved is almost mute, it still requires use of a rack; mandating a certain level of precision, eliminating complete disregard. Early work will test capacity later as press reps accumulate. The initial turnover concentrated the majority of strain as the first minute saw 15 bench repetitions. As our well-studied colleague has already noted, power cleans served as a state of relief if needed, tendering just enough recovery to promote unbroken sets if adequately prepared for the downpour. Dawn your poncho and waders, prep the dewatering equipment, and seek high ground, floodwater is 324 feet and rising.
