30# ball slam penalty for each broken set:
set 1 = number of consecutive press reps
set 2 = number of consecutive press reps x 2
set 3 = number of consecutive press reps x 3
set 4 = number of consecutive press reps x 4
etc...
(ex. set 1 = 15 press reps, then complete 15 ball slams; set 2 = 7 press reps, then complete 14 ball slams; proceed until 40 total shoulder press repetitions are achieved)
score is time and total number of ball slams

ReplyDeleteThe ability to shoulder press 95# consecutively without reprieve “spells” retribution. For me, after an initial effort of 20 repetitions, ball slams accumulated like rainfall in monsoon. Elation of managing a personally impressive opening set, transformed swiftly to utter dismay no more than six follow-on overhead efforts. On three separate occasions, I failed to lock out my final attempt, a demoralizing revelation of impending consequence. Balls slams are hardly a break from actively engaged shoulders. Sacrificing a few ticks on the clock in transition back to the press seemed fair barter for an additional rep. The escalating penalty was implemented deter strategy and promote toil. Nevertheless, a specific tactic surfaced: Finish.
