PUNISHING THE SPECIALIST?

We should be a little more circumspect, perhaps even suspicious, when latching onto attractive half truths or hollow arguments. Do we really want to punish the specialist, the one from whom we've benefited? The olympic weightlifter? The powerlifter? The gymnast? The endurance athlete? The track and field athlete? Do we want to curb their lopsided investment in their passion in order to demand a redistribution of their resources towards mediocrity? If the aforementioned experts aren't aligned with our religion then why do we seek their advice? The answer is because they are the only ones who know what the hell they are doing. If you really want to learn the Oly lifts then seek the advice of an Oly lifter. Should we punish an Otolaryngologist for his heavy investment in the ear, nose, and throat? Who would you visit for a knee injury? I would visit a knee specialist. Without going on forever it's worth noting that specialists are here to stay and play in important role in nearly every field of human activity from sports, taxes, and medicine. It's an attractive notion to think that I can out fran a marathon runner but I would be remiss in not taking note in the fact that for every specialist I can out fran they can out specialize me.
