The standard strategy would have us establish the most powerful in the social hierarchy of fitness but the failure of one actor constituted the inevitable failure of another. Jockeying for some ego hackneyed position was not an option. Previously signed accords established rules of engagement to include strict adherence to order. Failure reduced rest which invariably induced failure. Apologies were accepted while gallant efforts applauded. Exponential fatigue coupled with diminishing rest created the uncomfortable imposition of catatonia. The rapid turnover and associated pump-induced edema reduced volition to nothing more than a mandatory meeting with acquiescence. The unforgiving height demanded good judgement. Failure was not as much a function of ascent as it was being able to descend.
