  1. Whatever I did Saturday and Sunday had a synergistic effect making it, still today, difficult to negotiate the stairs. The squat jumps undoubtedly left their mark. I tried to work the soreness out yesterday and then again today. Instead, I've managed to squeeze the life from my muscles, deplete the fuel from my soul, and thoroughly crush my spirit. The objective of this wod was to use the barbell to deplete my stored energy and thereby exacerbate the bodyweight movements. If done quickly enough then the debt from one movement was manifested in the next movement, compounded and by the end, resulting in a marginal effort on the ostensibly easy situps. My objective was to take the set number of reps and induce failure. Needless to say, it was a success. Have you ever known failure to be a success? The first set is always easy no matter how hard it is. Two minutes of rest was hardly enough to mitigate the barbara/fran like effects, i.e. blood engorged arms, an acute pain induced by overload. The second set was marginal in comparison. My body moved much slower (it moves slow anyway when doing body weight movements). The cleans made the pull ups even worse. At this point, I witnessed my soul leave my body. I felt helpless and victimized by the very wod I created. Was it the wod or the previous few day's work? Training martial arts at night has a tendency to stifle my recovery a bit. I'm not sure why I've entered such a purgatory-like state in training. Regarless of the reason, the show must go on. Unless my objective is to post a PR in a specific wod, I'll continue to push myself so far into failure that one day I might just succeed.

  2. i knocked this workout out yesterday after a weak of operation evals down at the reserve team. this was the final blow i needed to completely destroy my body for the day off i am taking today. everything was already sore so there was no need to try and concentrate on a body part or function that had been under used. thanks for another good one mike
