Worship is over and class is in session, today’s reading selected from the book of “Skill and Technique.” Chapter One opens with heavy cleans performed at low repetitions. The objective: Continually refine efficiency. To do so, predetermined loads must encourage use of critical fundamentals. Still in the process of adapting to a more upright first pull on the clean, I’ve found the quicker transition under the bar to be advantageous, but proper timing has required added work. With the chest upright from the initial pull, the bar travels linear and ascends more rapidly. Like adopting any new procedure there is a familiarization period.

The second assignment forces concentration on basic skill by inducing failure. There is no way to recover while staying on the rings. So, efforts to produce the fastest time will inevitably lead to obligatory rest. I managed unbroken MUs/ring-dips through six, and then proceeded with individual sets. Complete collapse could not be avoided, a valiant, but impotent effort on the last round ended one ring-dip light. The consequence of which was an added muscle-up and additional time.

The second pull, that of pulling the body under the bar at warp speed was huge. Skill work felt good today, inducing the go-ahead attempt at 280# for a new PR. Hard nosed skill work pays off again. As for the metcon, rds 1-5 came farily quick going unbroken on the rings, still fininshing rd 6 inside minute one. As you mentioned, the remainder was history due to failure adding rest time.
