  1. This was hardly the mile menu originally planned but getting kicked off the beach after the body armor mile required replacing the water mile with another treadmill mile.
The treadmill has come to supplant the precision of the track. The ability to program a machine to produce a specific demand (in this case leg speed) and then meet the demands of said machine by programming another machine will prove useful. Awareness of its shortcomings doesn't preclude it from offering some extra-angular benefit. The additional variety of terrains and demands are designed to exercise the core requirements, such as diligence and sustained work while the treadmill will remove the extraneous factors for a one dimensional contribution. Additionally, the idea of enduring the pain and succeeding or getting thrown off the back or quitting in shame is attractive.
The stretch of beach along the waterline is only 250 mtrs. This required multiple switchbacks and breaks in pace capping the body armor mile at 8:07.
Adding the minefield boots added a new degree of frustration but also cultivated the requisite patience and persistence when traveling like a pack mule. The unnatural nature of the boots required a short and choppier stride ending at 18:51.
    More miles to come.
