The secondary movements in this venture were designed for deconstruction. Their sole purpose: Erode the foundation, marginalize stability, and increase difficulty. The overhead squat relies solely on the body’s ability to maintain a solid support structure, core to extremities. Attack the fundamental pillars and force positive control. Often overhead squats become a ritual of haste and brute strength, utilizing loads that do not enforce focus and/or stability. Intermixing ring push-ups with knees to elbows provided the proper fatigue factor to utilize lighter, yet ascending loads, forcing concentration on stability, and maintaining a rapidly paced program.
