REST

What more can one do to prepare for a competition besides everything that he can do? From where can we muster just a little more oomph, a little more meaning, a little more resolve, or a little more reason to push just a little harder? How many competitions are won or lost by only a handful of reps or a few seconds or just a foot or two? How important are the faculties of reason or strategy in negotiating our lead or jockying for position? Competition elevates the soul to another venue where the body defies the laws of physics and rebels against the virtues of reason. It produces heroes and cowards, villains and saints; competition exposes us, shares our strengths and weaknesses with the world. It celebrates the fight with civility.
Competition is the one opportunity to unwind, to release, to don our armour and charge the hill that shields our enemies. Any frustration, opinion, or inclination to raise our own flag should be done in the venue of competition. It's time to retreat into a tight coil, to refuel, conserve energy, and prepare to strike. In the end, there should be nothing left except for a littered battlefield and war-torn soldiers crawling back to their trenches.

  1. Did this one on 1/22. You had originally had it with a 2min rest. I definitely could have used the extra min.

    I wanted to just stay on the ground after the 1st phase. All the thrusters were unbroken. I barely was able to scrape myself of the floor to start the 2nd phase. 1st 5 cleans and ring dips were no prob, but by the 2nd set I was fighting 1 rep at a time on the cleans. The last set was the worst. SDHP are my kryptonite and they were slow, ugly, and painful. The hspu probably only used up about 1 minute of my time.

    This was a great workout to get used to throwing around 135lb. Just enough rest to keep running on fumes. Thanks for another great wod. Gooduck to you and Turbo on the upcoming event. I'm sure you guys will crush it.

  3. Nice times! Glad you got to get your hands dirty with 135#. I'm still bewildered with this one. A better scheme might have been 5 min of rest between evolutions. The shorter rest periods definitely affected the ability to generate consistent power with 135#. The objective should be mental fatigue and physical persistence while avoiding absolute failure. I should've played with this one before posting it. Another inadvertent explosion in the laboratory.
