  1. It was everything I could do to update the site tonight. The rain must have weakened the electromagnetic radition in sin city. Nevertheless, my comments will come post haste.

  2. Yet another wallop from the heavy hitting bilge rats of sin city. Despite the thin veneer of cheap sensationalism that defines this city we have to give it due respect, for without it, nothing else would exist. The annoying traffic, bedazzled clothing, UFC figher look alikes, and cheap eye candy is just a small price to pay for the gold to be found in the cracks of the side walks, on the periphery, and in between the lines. The underground is thumping and it isn't coming from the casinos. The bilge rats are busy sharpening their teeth and filing their claws, honing their skills so that when the time is right they'll be ready. Drive away from the bright lights of the fantasy world and into the dark, an industrial complex, in the back seat of a martial arts studio, identified by orphaned truck tires, but populated by a common thread. Why do I like Vegas so much? It's not because of the mesmerizing sensationalism that hypnotizes most mortals as much as it is to be able to walk into the cold but electrifying crypt that would be better suited for the home of the modern prometheus than a gym.
Today's wod was a nasty and promiscuous beastette, one that would drain the viscous liquid from my veins after the first round. Slow moving, grip slipping, diminishing return were some of the less desirable qualities to endure. The fuel to air ratio was wrong, stifling the motor's progress and straining the gears. Maybe it was the gear ratio or the software. Maybe if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. Regardless of why my mind and body didn't agree with such a bad recipe it was still worth doing and hating every rep of the way.
As is always the case, sin city crossfit has once again pointed out my programming biases. Besides the CnJ I could care less about the other movements and especially doing them in said fashion. I guess when I saw the wod initially it looked as if we would have a minute between each movement. Hearing the actual truth ruined my day. Nobody really wants to run their motor into the ground but its the only we to get to know its limitations. On the battlefield is not the place to test your gear.
    Score: 170
The burpee jumps took the gas out and the toes to bar are slow without doing the super herky jerky rebound, an important skill for aspiring competitors. Many things could've been corrected as I thought while negotiating the PT Cruiser back to the hotel. If we don't learn anything from this then it was all for naught.

  3. Mike, myself and some of the PJ's have been sticking to your website or CFJAX primarily while on deployment. I wanted to see how bad the elevation (5,000 ft)would effect me so i did 2 workouts prior to coming here and upon my arrival. the first was the "shop chipper" and the other was the USAF pt test (because i was forced to). I did the shop chipper in 6::09 in late dec and it took me 8::36 2 days after my arrival. I lost over a minute and 30 secs on my mile and a half time as well... on my first day up at altitude. Both workouts up here completely wrecked me. My VO2 was maxed out and i had absolutely no air. it reminded me of the first time i went to albuquerque, NM but WAY colder and with dirtier air.

i have been forced to lock myself onto a treadmil for any running a workout might require because my only other choices while on alert are to run on the flight line with reflective belts, a 9mm and a radio OR to run on the rocks at pitch black(i am on a night schedule) and risk destroying my ankle while on a heavy alert shcedule for a serious mission. So the treadmil it is...for now.

Did "insurrection" 2 days ago BUT we had to run(about 200m) between 2 different gyms to do the rope slams so we didnt keep a time. We merely had a competition with eachother instead of the clock. Kind of like normal life.

  4. Good to hear from you Bill. Sounds like you are making do with what you have. The altitude is no joke and I appreciate your efforts in the interest of science. I did the same thing in ABQ and Los Alamos. Everything is different and all previous data should temporarily be discarded. Essentially, you have to start over. One thing that might help, if you are trying to do wods as prescribed, is to incorporate rest periods so as to at least maintain a high power output. You might even want to change the nature of the wod entirely in order to get the benefits of the movements without running out of gas. Going balls out is only going to make you frustrated and cause you to lose control of your bodily functions. You will acclimate just in time to leave. Let me know what you come up with.
