In order to maintain familiarity with certain perishable skills, recertify your PQS regularly. Revisit the basic components necessary to perform assigned duties so as not to disregard necessary fundamentals. This dose daily of conditioning focused on the upper body elements, refreshing core competencies with a modest penalty for malfeasance. The double under sanction served more as retribution against the clock than physical punishment. An ideal situation would have allotted only two broken sets, but a straight crack at 60 pull-ups proved impossible. The set was broken at 45 and then finished swiftly. The final bout with 80 push-ups required three separate efforts easily accounting for the most time.

Of note, broken sets are defined as complete failure and/or dismount. Maintaining the “leaning rest” position, a handstand, or holding station on the rings or bar is not considered disruption. In any of the above circumstances, the involved muscle group is still responsible for bearing the weight of the body, not as taxing, but hardly rest.
