Building an anoxia-tolerant species.
Each movement served as a toxic catalyst for the next, reducing O2 levels until this morbid tale culminated with a desperate swim through the dead zone, the oxygen deprived area that consumes time like cancer. A quadruple descending ladder leading straight to the depths of black mire was the crux in this evil combination. The sprint ladder was an opportunity to make up time (by actually sprinting) or take the easy way out by reducing velocity to a jog, relinquishing control over time and letting the self-preserving instinct of recuperation dictate speed. In the end, there is no reason to recuperate. The tenuous opportunity to give up everything should always be seized as it may never come again.
