    3 rds + 400m farmers carry = 3.25 miles

I had no empty keg or pallet at the fire station so minor substitutions had to be made using a 30# weight for the OH carry and a 70# sled drag for the pallet. Even with the substitutions, the point of this workout was clearly proven. The constant of these 4 movements was a tight core for 60 min. Excellent change of pace workout.

Unlike the television reality series, this race circumvents any need for superfluous social interaction or wanton human drama. Instead, this particular feature depicts solitary personal suffering at repetitive checkpoints quantifying mental resolve. The incessant desire to satisfy an unremitting appetite for physical theatrics chauffeurs a mechanical and misanthropic war machine toward oxidative oblivion.

Never trivialize oxidative capacity. A task easier said than done, as definition and application have strayed by way of misdirection. Simply performing a 25-30 minute workout does not necessarily or solely isolate this pathway. Intensity of the activity determines the predominant pathway. Oxidative metabolism occurs in the presence of surprise… Oxygen. So, to appropriately address the desired area, effort must remain mostly aerobic. While onset of physical activity is anaerobic, continued low intensity work results in a switch to an aerobic metabolic process to sustain energy needs.

The chosen exercises and duration compelled endurance. Completing the first four intervals in less than 10 minutes might be possible, but it certainly would not lead to maximum distance in an hour. If this were the case, world-class sprinters would dominate the Boston Marathon by running 422 individual 100-meter segments. Rather, this was a matter of well-paced steady work; muscle fatigue at the hands of repetition should be the cause of breakdown. So, carry and pull pieces to the finish.
